We are delighted to have Qualcomm Technologies, host and present our October 2024 Business & Innovation Briefing in their state-of-the-art office in Penrose Dock, and are privileged to have Keith O’Donoghue and Aaron Hogan, both Senior Directors of Engineering, outline how the Qualcomm Technologies Cork site has grown over the past decade into a key European R&D site, the positive impact on the local ecosystem, plus provide an introduction to their work on Hardware Security at the Cork site.

Keith O’Donoghue, Senior Director of Engineering, Qualcomm, Cork

Keith over the past seven years has grown a large R&D engineering team in Cork who are responsible for providing leading-edge Analog/Mixed-Signal IP for the Snapdragon family of products. Keith currently holds the post of Adjunct Senior Lecturer at University College Cork, where he teaches a post-graduate level engineering module on Data Converter Systems. Keith graduated with a B.Eng. in 2004 and M.Eng.Sc. in 2005 from University College Cork, and completed a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Davis in 2009.

Aaron Hogan, Senior Director of Engineering , Qualcomm, Cork

Aaron leads several teams in Cork including Hardware Security, Offensive Security and Architectural Modelling. Aaron joined Qualcomm in November 2015 as one of the first engineers in the Cork, Ireland Office. Prior to joining, Aaron worked in numerous IP lead and digital design, evaluation roles in Cypress Semiconductor (Infineon), ONSEMI and Analog Devices. Aaron is a graduate of University College Cork with a B.Eng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and holds a Graduate Diploma in Financial Management from the ACCA.
