DePuy Synthes Transformation Journey in Cork

DePuy Synthes is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, one of the world’s largest and most diverse healthcare corporations.

It offers a broad portfolio of orthopaedic and neuro products for joint reconstruction, trauma, spine, sports medicine, neurological, craniomaxillofacial, power tools and biomaterials.

The DePuy Synthes (Ireland) plant, in Cork, is part of the Joint Reconstruction business. Established in 1997 it is now one of the larger manufacturing sites within the DePuy Synthes network. The site hip, knee & shoulder replacements and has approx. 1700 SKU’s (Stock Keeping Unit) manufactured at the facility.

Joe has worldwide responsibility for Operational Excellence & Business Transformation for the Joint Reconstruction manufacturing facilities in the US, Europe & China.

DePuy Synthes’s aspiration is to become the best supply chain in the world. To fulfill this aspiration it is Joe’s remit to plan and lead the implementation of the business transformation & Lean programs across the DePuy Synthes Joint Reconstruction Manufacturing sites worldwide.

The site adopted the Shingo Model in 2012 and has seen large improvements as a result of embedding the principles outlined in the approach and was awarded the Shingo Prize in 2014.

After the presentation, there will be a networking opportunity with light refreshments served.
