UCC Ignite Program
IGNITE is an incubation centre in University College Cork for higher education graduates of any discipline to:
- create jobs by nurturing entrepreneurship
- accelerate business start-ups
- turn innovative ideas into innovative products and services
- participate in a structured programme on all aspects of bringing a product or service to market
CIT – Rubicon Centre
CIT has an on-campus purpose built incubation centre, The Rubicon Centre, to help knowledge based businesses in the South West Region.
The Centre provides a supportive on-campus environment for start-up businesses. In essence, the Centre’s role as an incubator is to assist the formation and growth of early stage knowledge based businesses by providing physical space, in-house management support, access to advice and support from Institute resources.
SFI
Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) invests in academic researchers and research teams who are most likely to generate new knowledge, leading edge technologies and competitive enterprises in the fields of science and engineering underpinning three broad areas:
- Biotechnology
- Information and communications technology
- Sustainable energy and energy-efficient technologies
Midas
MIDAS is the Microelectronics Industry Design ASsociation in Ireland, and was established in 1999.
It is an Industry-Led organisation that defines and develops the future direction for the Microelectronics Industry in Ireland. MIDAS also includes the Universities that teach Electronic Engineering Graduates and are active in Microelectronics Research, as well as the State Agencies, IDA (the Industrial Development Authority) which supports Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into Ireland and Enterprise Ireland which supports the growth of the Irish Indigenous sector.
MCCI
Microelectronics Competence Centre Ireland (MCCI) is hosted by the Tyndall National Institute in collaboration with the University of Limerick with core funding of €1M per annum from the Irish government.
ICT Ireland
ICT Ireland is the leading representative body for the technology sector in Ireland and is affiliated to the Irish Business Employment Confederation (IBEC). Its membership is made up of the leading players in the Irish technology sector, as well as many early stage hi-tech companies and telecommunications companies. The vision of ICT Ireland is to maximise the contribution of these companies to Irish society and the economy.
CorkBIC
CORKBIC is a private-sector led organisation, specifically set up to identify and build knowledge intensive companies based on promising technology and capable innovative people. It plays a hands-on role helping entrepreneurs navigate the minefield of raising finance, sorting out business propositions, arranging agreements with shareholders and investors, and, perhaps most important of all, finding customers.
CORKBIC identifies, selects and develops about 12 higher potential startups per year and works as a hands-on catalyst or project developer in infrastructure gap initiatives.
