Denis Dempsey, Senior Manager, Intel Corporation Ireland
Intel, is the world leader in silicon innovation. Founded in 1968 to build semiconductor memory products, it introduced the world’s first microprocessor in 1971. Over the years, Intel has grown its employee base to 82,500 (Dec 2010) worldwide.
Ireland is Intel’s centre of manufacturing excellence in Europe. Since 1989, Intel has invested €6 billion turning 360 acres of the Collinstown Industrial Park into the most advanced industrial campus in Europe.
Over 4,000 people work at the Leixlip campus and in addition over 200 people are employed at Intel Communications Europe, Shannon, which is the Ireland product development arm of the Communications Product Group.

Denis is a graduate of University College Cork and has worked in Intel for over 20 years. After graduation in 1986, he started work with Philips in Holland in area of CMOS process and product development. He joined Intel in 1991 as part of Intel’s first Fab start-up in Ireland and has worked in Yield, Test, Product Development and Organisational Development areas. He has travelled extensively with Intel to its various research, design and manufacturing facilities around the world. He is currently responsible for the overall Test Facility on the Leixlip site as well as Fab24’s organisational development strategy owner.
Denis graduated from UCC with an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and an MBA with Open University in 2003.
