| Description | Electrical and Electronic Engineering in UCC has been producing professional graduate electrical engineers for over 50 years. It is the largest Electrical Engineering department in any Irish university; approximately half of all the electrical engineers who graduate in Ireland per annum study here in UCC. Electrical and Electronic Engineering applies fundamental mathematical, scientific and physical principles to a broad range of technological services and products that underpin all areas of modern industry and society. The department has an internationally recognized research profile at the cutting edge of many technologies, and has been very successful in attracting key funding from FP7, SFI, Enterprise Ireland, the HEA and IRCSET. The department has excellent links with industry, and interacts with a wide variety of companies ranging from large multinationals to SMEs in areas as diverse as renewable energy, power generation and distribution, advanced medical electronic systems, and microelectronics.
